WHERE COCO SLEEPS

There are not many people in the world who don´t know of Gabrielle ´Coco´ Chanel, the renowned fashion designer who was born a peasant and raised in an orphanage. These factors however, never stopped her from developing one of the most powerful fashion brands the world has ever known, which even to this day, leads by example with its keen awareness of social trends, long after her death and founding legacy.
¨French fashion designer Coco Chanel lived a glamorous lifestyle and her burial site is no different. After the popularity of the film, Coco Before Chanel, many people have since travelled to the Swiss city of Lausanne to see her elegant tombstone and flower arrangement designed in the shape of the Chanel logo, as she continues to market her brand even after death.¨ – Karl Lagerfeld
Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel died in 1971 at the age of 88 years. Her final place of rest is at the Bois-de-Vaux cemetery in Lausanne, a city on the Swiss Riviera where she spent the last decade years of her life. In keeping with her enthusiasm for numerology and astrology, her tomb is embellished with five lions representing her favourite number and the bust of Leo, her astrological birth sign.
